Longlands People – Charlotte Phillips

Whether it’s carrying our Covid-19 tests, arranging the payment of invoices, ensuring our staff get paid or generally just being people’s first point of contact at Longlands, Charlotte Phillips is definitely a cut above when it comes to administration.

And that’s definitely not just because she was a hairdresser before she decided that admin was the career for her!

Charlotte joined Longlands in August 2020. She spent time as a carer (which she says she really enjoyed) before becoming our full-time administrator.

Currently, one of her main roles involves administering Covid-19 tests for visitors to the home, something which has taken on even greater importance in recent months.

She explains: “We have finally been able to welcome families back into Longlands so see their loved ones, so the tests enable them to do this.

“It has enabled me to make good bonds with the families who are just so happy to be back inside the home again.”

Charlotte has previous experience of being in a care home, via her grandmother who was a resident in another care home.

She adds: “There’s no comparison between that home and Longlands as it’s so much nicer here.

“It’s a much nicer atmosphere and environment to be in and the residents and staff are lovely, so it’s a great place to work in.”

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys watching live music and despite her age (29), she is a big fan in particular of music from the 1980s. She has also recently taken up swimming.
