#FindYourEvelyn | A National Call for Action in Social Care
Every day, across the UK, people in our care could be living with unnecessary confusion, drowsiness, and reduced quality of life — NOT just because of their condition, but also because of the possibility of the hidden impact of Anticholinergic Cognitive Burden (ACB) from the medication they take.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
The #FindYourEvelyn campaign is challenging every one of us in the social care sector to take action: review medications, identify ACB risk, and give the people we support the best possible chance to live well, think clearly, and stay themselves for longer.
This movement is inspired by Evelyn, a 101-year-old woman whose life was transformed when her medication was reviewed. Within weeks, she regained clarity, independence, and joy. Her story is living proof that a simple intervention can change everything.
This is not optional — it is our responsibility.
Every day we delay, someone’s potential is being lost. Every review we don’t do is a chance missed.
Join us. Act now. Find Your Evelyn.
Why Anticholinergic Burden (ACB) Matters:
Many common medications block a vital neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. When taken together, these create an “anticholinergic burden,” which is linked to:
• Confusion and memory decline
• Increased risk of falls
• Higher risk of developing dementia
• Reduced quality of life
By reviewing and reducing the anticholinergic load, we can radically improve health outcomes for older adults.
