Great pride

Roseleigh care home took great ‘pride’ in organising an event to support the LGBTQ+ community in the area.

We recently held a Pride Festival for its residents, families, and friends.

Musical entertainment was provided by drag queen Keaton Craggs who goes under the stage name ‘Keelea Sin Love’ and his glamorous assistant, his mum Cheryl who appeared as ‘Mama Delicious’.

There was also a best dressed competition for those who wore the boldest and brightest clothing on the day( the residents certainly did us proud with this), as well as food and refreshments.

Roseleigh Care Home Manager Fiona Fewster said: “Our residents, families, friends, and staff had a wonderful day celebrating and embracing diversity in our community.

“Given the circumstances of the last three years it was great to be able to welcome people back into the home for an event like this, which was a first for the home. But it certainly won’t be the last.

“We were able to introduce a new activity programme for residents once Covid restrictions were eased and this is a good example of how we are trying to offer new, varied and stimulating activities for our residents at Roseleigh, and involving families as much as possible too.”
