Our Residents – Amy Trafford

Debbie Ashe, whose mum Amy Trafford is a resident at Queen’s Lodge, said: “Mum had a stroke two years ago which meant we had to find a nursing home for her.

“As a nurse, now retired, I had been in Queen’s Lodge in a professional capacity so I knew it was one of the best nursing homes in Blackburn and that’s why I wanted mum to go there.

“One of my mum’s next-door neighbours also worked at the home, so it was nice to know she would have a familiar face there.

“All the staff are very friendly, and many have been there a long time, which is always a positive sign.

“This all contributed to mum settling in very quickly.”

Debbie says despite Covid-19 preventing visits to Queen’s Lodge, she was able to speak to her mum regularly over the phone as well as having ‘window’ visits and more recently visits via the pod which has been installed in the conservatory.

She adds: “Whilst not being able to visit mum in the normal way has been difficult, it’s fantastic that the home has not had any cases of Covid-19 and the staff have done an amazing job keeping residents safe.

“The home is always immaculately clean, and I can’t speak highly enough of Queen’s Lodge.”
