The therapy she needed

After sadly losing her mum in 2022, Kate Maddison says working at Roseleigh was just the therapy she needed to help the grieving process.

Kate was working as a live-in carer in London (a job she loved) but moved back to Guisborough when her mum became ill.

She had planned to return to London but having started working at Roseleigh in 2022, she now intends to remain exactly where she is.

“There’s a real family atmosphere at Roseleigh and everyone was so welcoming and supportive towards me,” she says.

“The manager Fiona is amazing; a member of staff Leighan is like my big sister and another member of staff Jackie has become my second mum.

“It was the best place to get therapy for myself after my mum died, so I couldn’t be happier.”

Kate originally started working in homecare in 2008 for a local provider.

“I loved it there and they looked after my granddad, so I knew they were good, but they only had zero-hour contracts at the time, and I needed more stability,” she says.

Kate then went into residential care, before moving to London to become a live-in carer.

“I thought I would go back after my mum died but being at Roseleigh changed my mind. I have never seen a home like this!”

Outside of work Kate enjoys walking, socialising, and watching a film with a nice glass of wine.
