Faces of Constantia – Meet David (Manor Croft)

David, a resident at Manor Croft, grew up in Leeds and was born at St Mary’s Hospital. Raised just off Stanningley Road, his childhood was filled with the joys of having a park right next door — perfect for football matches and outdoor adventures.

From a young age, David knew exactly what he wanted to be: a wagon driver. It was a dream that never wavered, and it’s exactly what he became. His father’s advice has stuck with him all his life: “When driving, don’t hesitate — just carry on.”

David also had a passion for football and played for local pub teams. Though he doesn’t play anymore, he still loves the sport, and these days you’re more likely to find him watching Law & Order on television.

Tea is his first choice, though coffee is a close second — and when it comes to food, he enjoys both sweet and savoury.

David’s advice for younger generations is straightforward but powerful:
💭 “Don’t do anything wrong.”

His friends describe him as helpful, funny, and daft — qualities that make him well-loved at Manor Croft.

We’re proud to share David’s story as part of Faces of Constantia, celebrating the everyday wisdom of our residents.
