When people hear the phrase “we’re putting our residents to work”, it usually raises an eyebrow or two.
So let’s be clear from the start:
This isn’t about chores, responsibilities or expectations.
It’s about voice, choice and influence.
We’re proud to introduce a new role across Constantia Healthcare Group: Resident Quality Partner.
What is a Resident Quality Partner?
A Resident Quality Partner is a resident who chooses to share their experiences of living in one of our homes, helping us understand what life is really like day to day.
They may be asked about:
- How welcoming and kind the staff team feel
- Communal areas, gardens and the overall environment
- Food and mealtimes
- Activities and wellbeing sessions
- What works well and what could be better
Some Resident Quality Partners may also visit other Constantia homes (with support) to share peer feedback and fresh perspectives.
There’s no experience needed. Just honesty.
Why are we doing this?
Because the people who live in our homes are the true experts.
Policies, audits and inspections matter, but they don’t always capture how a place feels. Residents do.
By creating a structured, supported way for residents to share feedback, we can:
- Improve consistency across our homes
- Strengthen everyday experiences, not just compliance
- Empower residents to shape the care they receive
Is it formal or demanding?
Not at all.
The role is:
- Voluntary
- Flexible in time and commitment
- Designed around comfort, choice and consent
- Supported if residents need help to take part
Residents can stop at any time, choose how often they’re involved, and decide how they prefer to share feedback – talking, writing, or a mix of both.
As a thank you, Resident Quality Partners receive a gift card for their time, with no impact on benefits.
What this really represents
This initiative is about respect.
It says: Your experience matters. Your opinion counts. And your voice can help improve life for others.
Putting residents “to work” isn’t about asking more of them. It’s about finally giving their insight the platform it deserves.
