Maya Harker describes being an Activity Coordinator at Roseleigh as the “dream job”.
She got the activity bug at the previous home she worked at which didn’t have anyone dedicated to activities.
Maya explains: “That meant we were all involved in activities, and I really enjoyed it, whether it was organising events or birthday celebrations.
“I even used to staff back after my shift or come in on my days off to help when things needed doing.”
So, when Maya saw the full-time Activity Coordinator role advertised at Roseleigh, she had no hesitation in applying.
Working alongside our other Coordinator Keaton, Maya is responsible for devising and delivering a range of activities for our residents.
“We always make sure the activities are tailored to the residents and what their hobbies and interests are,” says Maya.
“When I left school, I worked in a bank, but I hated it because I hardly saw or talked to anyone.
“Here at Roseleigh, I am always chatting with the residents, listening to their stories and getting t0 know them.
“I have definitely found my calling working in care and that’s why it is my dream job!”
