Ann Pattison says she has found her calling working as a Housekeeper at The Millings, her only regret is she didn’t do it earlier.
Ann has worked as a cleaner her entire career, on a nearby army garrison, before coming to the home in 2020.
As a naturally outgoing person, she says it’s been the perfect for her.
“Working here is just amazing, I get emotional just talking about it,” she says.
“I love chatting with the residents, they certainly know when I am on shift!”
Ann is part of a team of seven (there’s always three on the floor and on one on laundry at any one time) tasked with keeping The Millings clean and tidy. This includes cleaning all communal and dining areas and of course residents’ bedrooms.
“It’s a continuous job and we never really stop,” says Ann.
“The Millings is effectively like a high-end hotel and the residents have a right to expect the highest standards, which is what we provide.
“The residents can’t thank you enough for everything you do for me, even if that is something small like making a bed.
“It’s a pleasure to work here and it may have taken me while, but I have definitely found my calling!”
Outside of work, mum-of-two Ann enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren and she is looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother in July.
She also likes gardening and in particular upcycling ornaments from her home to put in the garden.
“It means my garden is very colourful,” she jokes.
