There are not many people who can say it’s a pleasure to come to work, but that’s exactly how Shelley Skitt feels.
Manor Croft is Shelley’s first experience of working in a care home although before his she did spend time looking after an amputee who required one-to-one care, so she had a good idea of what to expect.
“The big difference between the two jobs is the variation you get working in a care home,” explains Shelley.
“Every day is different because every day is different and that’s what I enjoy the most.
“The residents are grateful for everything you do for me so that’s why it’s a pleasure coming into work and knowing you are helping make someone’s day better.”
Shelley has certainly made her own impact on the residents since she joined in January 2023.
She adds: “I work part-time and finish at 1.30pm most days and residents will ask me when I am back in, which is a lovely thing to say because it makes you feel you are doing a good job.
“It’s one of the many reasons why I love it here.”
Outside of work, mum-of-three Shelley enjoys spending time with her fiancé, relaxing with friends, and making the most of the bar she has in garden, otherwise known as her ‘woman cave’.
