Caron Flynn always told herself that she would run Manor Croft Care Home one day, and that particular dream has come true.
Caron was officially made our Registered Manager in May 2024, having been Deputy since December 2023.
But she has worked at Manor Croft for 13 years and during that time has undertaking every role possible, so we couldn’t have any chosen anyone better as our Manager.
She didn’t know it at the time, but Caron’s care career began at the tender age of five when she joined St John’s Ambulance.
It was something she would continue to do for 16 years, rising to the rank of Corporal and attending sporting fixtures and other public events to provide first-aid support.
Caron worked part-time at a local hospital as a Domestic and then Care Assistant as he first two children were growing up and then after the birth of her third child she worked as a Nursery Practitioner in the same nursery he attended.
And them Manor Croft came into her life.
She explains: “I was walking past the home, and something made me go in and ask if they had any jobs going.
“They said yes, and I started as bank staff before being taken on permanently, and I have been here ever since.”
During her time at Manor Croft Caron has done everything, including cooking, cleaning, laundry admin and even a bit of maintenance.
And of course, care!
“I love everything about the home, the residents, families, staff, the building – it just feels like home,” she says.
“I have always been passionate about Manor Croft being a great place to live and work and ultimately, it’s all about making our residents’ lives better.
“They come here on the next stage of their lives, and we need to make it as nice as possible for them and their families.
“I always said I would run the home one day so it’s a dream come true to become Manager.
“I would even buy the place if I won the lottery, that’s how much it means to me.”
Outside of work, married mum-of-three Caron likes to spend time with her family, including watching her youngest son play junior rugby, supporting the Huddersfield Giants and socialising with friends.
