Faces of Constantia – Meet Joyce (Manor Croft)

Joyce was born in Mirfield on Granny Lane and grew up in nearby Hopton. She describes her childhood simply as “nice,” full of happy memories and community spirit.

Though she wasn’t sure what career path to take, Joyce found her place at the Co-op in Mirfield, where she worked for many years and enjoyed being part of everyday community life.

Her favourite piece of advice is timeless:
✨ “Work hard and be honest. Treat people as you would like to be treated.” ✨

Over the years, Joyce has enjoyed reading, knitting, and dancing in her younger days. Now she enjoys a good cup of tea — with a mid-morning coffee for variety — and prefers savoury foods. Her favourite shows include Bake Off and Countryfile.

Her lesson for younger generations is a gentle reminder we can all follow:
💭 “Be nice to people and be polite. Manners cost nothing.”

Friends describe her as respectful, loving, and helpful — a reflection of the values she’s carried throughout her life. Joyce’s story shows us that kindness, honesty, and manners never go out of style.
