Great pride

We took great ‘pride’ in organising an event to support the LGBTQ+ community in our area.

As part of Pride Month in June, we held a day of activities for our residents, families, and friends.

We used our big screen to play music from artists connected with the LGBTQ+ community, including Queen, Elton John, and Dolly Parton.

And our cook Esther and her team did an amazing job making colourful rainbow cakes and a fruit platter representing the traditional Pride colours.

We also decked Queen’s Lodge out in balloons and gave out rainbow scarves – it’s fair to say the home was awash in colour!

Queen’s Lodge Activities Coordinator Barbara Winstanley said: “Our residents, families, friends, and staff had a wonderful day celebrating and embracing diversity in our community.

“There was a great party atmosphere, providing plenty of stimulation for our residents.

“It’s nice to be able to introduce new, themed activities like this, especially given the circumstances of the last three years, and we are now looking forward to making this an annual event, as well as marking other important awareness days in the calendar.”
