The prospect of working at Manor Croft Care Home brought Stacey Ammon to tears – happy tears that is!
Having had a long-held ambition to work in a care setting and having worked in administration for over 15 years in a totally different sector, Stacey couldn’t wait to get her application in when the post of Administrator came up at Manor Croft.
“I fell in love with Manor Croft and the residents I set my eyes on from the moment I came in for my interview and just knew this is where I was always supposed to be,” she says.
“Needless to say, I was over the moon when I discovered I had been successful.”
That was almost two years and now Stacey plays an important part in the day-to-day running of the home, looking after everything from speaking to residents’ families and prospective new residents through to finance, drawing up staff rotas and much more.
There’s also another recently introduced initiative which Stacey is particularly enjoying being part of.
“We run a coffee morning every Tuesday at 11.00, the residents and families really enjoy this as do I ’’
“It’s been a great way of socialising with the residents and getting to know them even more.”
Even though it took a bit longer than she originally thought, Stacey can trace working in a care environment back to when she volunteered to help new mums with their babies in the community and at a local hospital.
And she has her sights firmly set on developing her career further in the years to come.
Stacey adds: “I love working here and I will need to see what happens but if opportunities arise then I am definitely going to be interested in pursuing them.”
Outside of work, the married mum-of-two enjoys spending time with her family, walking and socialising.
