Keeping it in the family

When it comes to Linson Court, Mandy Strafford is certainly keeping it in the family.

That’s because Mandy’s brother came to the home for a while after suffering a stroke and then, when her mum needed some respite care, there was only ever going to one place for her to come.

Mandy has worked at Linson Court for two years, initially as our Activities Coordinator and more recently helping out in admin.

That means Mandy is likely to be the first point of contact if you ever call the home or pop in for a visit.

If she’s not speaking to residents’ families or prospective new residents, you will probably find her in the office working on timesheets, payroll and all the other day-to-day things that are required in running a care home.

Whilst she doesn’t currently have as much interaction with residents as she did in activities, she still tries to spend time with them when she can.

“I will always have a chat and a little sing song with them whilst I am in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil,” she says.

“It’s a lovely home and I have known that from the day when I visited to see if it was suitable for my brother.

“And then when I worked here and my mum needed respite for a few weeks, there was only ever going to be one place for her too!

Outside of work, mum-of-two Mandy enjoys going to the gym and taking part in classes such as Zumba and Yoga.
