Alison Morris, whose mum Margaret Grierson is a resident at Queen’s Lodge, said: “I was mum’s full-time carer and would go into her home every day to see to her personal care and other needs, such as shopping.
“She was doing ok but then started having a lot of falls and became very unsteady on her feet.
“I once got called in the middle of the night after she had a fall and I realised it had got to the stage where she needed more help than I could provide.
“Along with my brother, we spoke to her about going into a home and she understood that this would be the best and safest place for her, so we began looking for homes in the area.
“We had read good reviews about Queen’s Lodge and had spoken to people who either had relatives there or had visited others, and they all had very positive things to say about the home.
“When we enquired about a room two years ago, they only had a twin room available, so she had to share a room for a little while until a single room became available, but we didn’t want her to miss out on being at Queen’s Lodge.
“She settled in very well and the staff can’t do enough for her, so it gives us real peace of mind knowing she is so well looked after.”
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Alison has been able to keep in regular contact with her mum via telephone and video calling, as well having window visits.
She adds: “Mum’s a chatty person she has missed us being able to talk face to face regularly, but she has made some good friends in the home which has helped.
“We feel so lucky to have been able to choose a home where there is so much love, care, support, and respect. The staff are wonderful, and we wouldn’t want mum to be anywhere else as Queen’s Lodge is just outstanding.”
