Janine Ali started her working life as a hairdresser but when it comes to care, it’s fair to say she’s a cut above!
Not that her experience cutting hair hasn’t come in handy, as she explains: “During the pandemic, due to the restrictions the regular hairdresser at Longlands was not able to come in, so I did it for them!”
Janine actually started at our sister home Roseleigh in 2000 as her aunt was deputy manager at the time.
She left care altogether for a while in order to do other things but came back in 2018 when she started working at Longlands.
As one of our Senior Carers, she is responsible for dispensing medication to our residents, in addition to her other day-to-day caring duties.
Janine explains: “I enjoy working in care because it’s nice being able to take care of people and making them feel welcome and at home at Longlands.
“I knew some of the staff already from my time at Roseleigh; and everyone is brilliant; it’s just like being part of a big family.”
Outside of work, mum-of-one Janine, 42, keeps busy as she has another job working in hospitality on match days for Middlesbrough Football Club. She also enjoys going to the bingo and travelling.
