Jacqueline Pursey may have Housekeeper as her job title, but she does so much more than that at Middlesbrough Grange and says she wouldn’t change that for the world.
“When you work in residential care it’s impossible to do just one job because it’s not that sort of environment,” she explains.
“Everyone mucks in and helps each other and that is what makes Middlesbrough Grange such a nice place in which to work.”
Jacqueline speaks from authority here because she has been at the home since day 1.
That was 16 years ago when she started working in the kitchen at Middlesbrough Grange, before then becoming one of our two Housekeepers.
It’s a vital role, perhaps even more so after the Pandemic with everyone now being even more aware of the importance of maintaining excellent hygiene standards.
For Jacqueline this means ensuring every room at Middlesbrough Grange is spotlessly cleaned each day, although as explained, that doesn’t mean that she can’t help in other areas.
She explains: “There’s always a bit of caring involved in my job whether that’s chatting to residents whilst I clean their rooms or supporting them if they need any other help around the home.
“Recently, we had a nice day so after all the poor summer weather we had been having I decided to get the umbrella shades up, get everyone outside, put some music on and make them shandies from the bar, and they all loved it.”
Jacqueline says she been impressed with Constantia Healthcare’s approach since we acquired the home in June.
Outside of work, Jacqueline enjoys spending time with her husband of 43 years and their three children and four great-grandchildren.
